Hybrid Intelligence Design & Architectural Robotic Setups

The Hi-DARS lab (Hybrid Intelligence Design and Architectural Robotic Setups) is a design research hub committed to leading the integration and advancement of Hybrid Intelligence, Architectural Robotics, and innovative Design Setups in architecture, the construction industry, and built environment technologies. By adopting an integrated approach that combines human and machine intelligence, the lab establishes a strong foundation for realizing its objectives. Hi-DARS lab explores emerging materials, mediums, and methods to systematically incorporate hybrid intelligence into design and building processes and to explore the broader socio-cultural impacts of automation, machine intelligence, and robotics. The lab highlights the significant role of design-build processes as an influencer in social and environmental spheres, connecting and augmenting practical material applications with the broader, interconnected aspects of ecological and societal setups. Situated at Texas Tech University Huckabee College of Architecture to enable national and international collaborations, Hi-DARS aims to create a knowledge exchange platform, improving design and construction practices worldwide through emerging technologies and advocating for solutions that are circular, resilient, and adaptive to different geographical contexts.

Hybrid of Phygital Design-Build MEDIUMS

Mixed Reality Co-Design and Building: Employing Mixed Reality technology, we're revolutionizing construction processes for enhanced efficiency. This advanced approach optimizes the use of materials like concrete and wood, collaborating closely with local architectural design firms and building contractors.

Hybrid Human-Robot Collaboration METHODS

The future of construction is shaped by the strategic collaboration between humans and robots on construction sites. This entails creatively integrating technology to establish novel roles for humans. The aim is to enhance efficiency while mitigating risks, reducing costs, and significantly improving productivity. This innovative approach not only transforms the construction landscape but also paves the way for new job markets and architectural practices.

Hybrid of Circular MATTERS

Our focus is recycling common construction materials like wood, brick, and concrete. We use advanced techniques, such as 3D printing, to transform waste materials into alternative resources. By doing this, we aim to reduce the environmental impact and lower the carbon footprint of building processes. We aim to work closely with local, national, and international industry partners and suppliers to make this happen.
